Candle Care & Safety Guide
We want you to enjoy your beautiful candles safely. Please follow these essential safety guidelines every time you burn a candle from Bath Essentials by Ani.
Before You Burn
  • Trim the Wick: Always trim your candle wick to 1/4 inch before lighting it every single time. This prevents large flames, heavy smoking, and dangerous soot buildup.
  • Check the Surroundings: Place your candle on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep it far away from anything that can catch fire, such as curtains, blankets, papers, or clothing.
  • Avoid Drafts: Keep your burning candle away from open windows, ceiling fans, air vents, or heavy drafts. Air currents can cause uneven burning and sudden flare-ups.
While Burning
  • Never Leave Unattended: Never leave a burning candle out of your sight. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
  • Keep Out of Reach: Keep candles completely out of reach of children and family pets.
  • Avoid the Melt Pool: Keep the pool of melted wax entirely clear of matches, wick trimmings, and any other debris.
  • The 4-Hour Rule: Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning it for too long can cause the jar to get dangerously hot or crack.
Extinguishing Your Candle
  • Use a Snuffer: Use a candle snuffer or a metal lid to put out the flame. This stops the candle from smoking and prevents hot wax from splattering. Never use water to put out a candle.
  • Don't Move Hot Candles: Never move or touch a candle while it is burning or while the wax is still hot and liquid.
  • Know When to Say Goodbye: Stop using your candle when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. Burning a candle all the way to the glass base can cause the container to shatter.
